About the Founder
Anderson became a respite care provider in September 2005. She became a foster
parent in November 2005. Celia became involved in the foster care program because
she herself was a foster child. She and three of her siblings became part of the
foster care program when she was nine years old. Fortunately, they were never
separated from each other and remained in the same home together until she graduated
from high school. Celia received high quality care, guidance, and love in her
foster home. She truly has realized the love and joy of having an extended family.
Celia was inspired to go on to achieve quite a bit in her life in spite of her
early beginnings, as a result of the love and encouragement received from her
foster family. She went on to get several university degrees in the social science
field. She is a wife and the proud biological mother of two sons, and serves as
foster parent for one special needs child.
Celia has been involved with
special needs children for approximately fifteen (15) years. She first started
out in the early eighties at a special needs center in Columbia, SC where she
served as a Client Activities Coordinator. She later moved to Georgia and was
employed at another special needs facility. Celia later began working with one
of the county school systems as a full time substitute teacher. It was during
these almost 10 years of service that Celia truly recognized and embraced that
work with people of all ages is her calling. She witnessed personal situations
where family members struggled with the decision of what to do with disabled young
adults and aging parents that required 24 hr care. She has always harbored a strong
desire to give back just as she received. She was inspired to go to the ultimate
level of giving by providing the living environment that is needed to provide
families a peace of mind that comes with knowing that their loved ones are being
properly cared for. She personally realized the benefits of a strong foster care
program and wants nothing more than to be able to provide a safe caring living
environment for the many people in need of one.
